The Cortijo
Situated in approximately 10 acres of arable land and olive grove. This is a modern building reflecting the traditional “cortijo” style and the house is set in gently rolling hills. There is ceramic tiling throughout with skirting detail, coving and central plaster roses around lights to the ceilings. The house is supplied with mains electricity and there is a telephone line and internet available. Electric wall panel heaters are fitted in 3 bedrooms, both bathrooms and the hall. The exterior walls of the house are 35 cms thick and contain a filled cavity to protect the interior from the heat. Some kitchen white goods included.
The olive grove contains 144 trees, many are over 100 years old and at pruning time they provide an excellent supply of firewood. Down the drive and around the house further olive trees have been planted, some new varieties to the area, which are heavy croppers and produce the finest grade olive oil.
In contrast to some other parts of Andalucía, Cádiz receives enough winter rainfall to provide a lush green appearance through the cooler months. Cadiz province is bordered by the provinces of Málaga, Seville and Huelva and both the Mediterranean and the Atlantic seas. Malaga airport is 2.5 hours, Seville 1.5 hours, Gibraltar 1 hour 20 minutes and Jerez de la Frontera 25 minutes. Train services connect internationally from Jerez and there is a bus station in Arcos.
