Cadiz City is buzzing with the news that Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz will be filming scenes for their new movie Knight and Day in the City.

The allure of Cadiz City has worked it´s magic again making it the choice for the makers of Knight and Day.  Tom plays Milner a secret agent who goes on a blind date with unlucky in love June played by Cameron.  Trapped in a journey to protect a powerful battery that holds the key to an infinite power source, they become fugitives and they must figure out whether to be guided by truth or trust.  Directed by Tom Mangold, the action comedy is scheduled to be released on July 2, 2010.  Unfortunately, filming has been temporarily postponed after some bulls being used in a street scene escaped, causing minor injury to two passers-by.  The animals ran through the narrow streets of the old town and were finally rounded up unhurt on the beach.  The incident raised calls from CAS International an organization fighting for the abolition of bull fighting and cruelty to bulls for Tom and Cameron to pull out of the movie.

It is not new for Cadiz to be chosen as a movie set.  Die Another Day the famous James Bond movie starring Halle Berry and Pierce Brosnan used the city for scenes set in Havana and the imaginary Isla Los Organos.

Local business woman Lesley McEwan of Cadizcasa Estate Agents said ‘I can understand film companies being interested in Cadiz.  It really has an excellent mix of white sand beaches and historical buildings. None of us were too surprised when it was chosen for the Havana scenes in the bond film as it is nicknamed La Cubita or Little Cuba.  I have seen many pictures of Halle and Pierce on restaurant walls in Cadiz and the more southern part of the coast so it is good to see that they took some time out from filming to appreciate this beautiful part of Spain. We welcomed the news that Tom and Cameron would be visiting to film scenes for their new movie.  The bull incident was a bit unfortunate but luckily nobody was seriously injured and all the bulls were rounded up in good health.  Hopefully they can start filming again soon’.

Knight and Day will be released on 23 June 2010.
